Playing For Stacks

When I sit at a 1/2 or 2/5 table my goal is to take as much as I can off the table. I am not there to make friends or waste my time, like many of the recreational players. I am in it for the money. This may sound harsh, but I need to pay the bills. I like to have fun at the tables and I never berate other players or talk down to them, I want them to have a good time giving me there chips.

Every one wants to win a big pot. you have to be willing and able to get your money in good and play the hand in a way that will convince your opponent to call your bet.

Say you sitting on a 1/2 table. To simplify every one has 200 chips.OK your sitting on a pair of 10s some one raise to $10 3 players call. The flop : Js 5d 10d. The preflop better makes it $20 to go, you flat call. The turn is a 6h. The pre flop raiser cks and you make it $20 and the raiser calls. The river is a 3s. The original raiser checks and you bet $30 and get a call. The raiser shows As Jh, and you flopped a set of 10's.

This was a stacking opportunity, sure you made $100. you could have easily stacked you opponent. The bets were to small. You should be willing to get all the chips in when the opportunity arises. You should have raised the flop to a pot sized bet of $50. then if you get called split the rest of you chips and bet the turn for $60 and river for $70.This is just one example of how bet sizing can help you to stack your opponent. Don't be afraid to get those chips in there when the time is right.
